Oktoberfest 2007

So the time came, and what a showing for the Beer Team. We ate German food, listened to Polka, and drank ALOT of beer. We've added a new member to our team, his name is Will...and we'll be adding him to our roster very soon. So that brings the count up to 4 people for the team. We even came across quite a few fans of our website, which was great. They drank some beer with us and we all had a great time. Bob even pulled a 16 hour bender...so Congrats on that. We'll be posting pics as well as video shortly. Stay tuned folks.

A SAD day for the Beer world.

Up in smoke: 4% of America's hops. Cry in your beer.
About 4 percent of all hops in the USA went up in flames yesterday. Most of the country's crop is grown in Washington's Yakima Valley, where a 40,000-foot warehouse fire consumed rather a lot of the essential beer-brewing ingredient on Monday. AP says: "By mid-afternoon, flames engulfed most of the building, sending up plumes of smoke and a pungent aroma." On NPR.org, JJ Sutherland blogs, "The cause of the fire is not known. Nor is the effect on beer and beer prices. The world mourns. Start hoarding now."

Training Week 3
With Oktoberfest only days away, I think the team is primed and ready for some serious battling with the Suds monsters. This weekend the guys went "Somewheres Else" for a round of special training. "Special training" you ask. A Frat party....Wedding reception.....your Jewish cousin's bris? Nope, we hit a dive, not JUST any dive..but we went to place that is the Holiest of Holy..a place so special that we WONT share..but it was a night that was straight out of the 70s. With the wood-paneled walls, faint amber lighting, and still pristine shag carpet, we indulged in an evening of classic country and shitty beer. While listening to Johnny Cash, Vern Gosdin, and Johnny Paycheck singing to us on a jukebox that played vinyl 45s, we downed dozens of 10 oz. cans of dead yeast. The purpose of this training? Well if we can hold down nearly 3 cases of cheap beer and still be functional...that we'd be ready for Oktoberfest. (Sorry no pictures, because we can NOT by any means reveal this location due to its sacredness)But if you've ever seen Three's Company nd remember the Regal Beagle Lounge, its just like it. We even brought a friend as a special guest, and he lterally had tears in his eyes from the sheer beauty of the place. Enough said.

Our beer of the month October: Spaten

Spaten Oktoberfest Beer, created in 1872, is the world's first Oktoberfest beer, brewed for the greatest folk festival in the world. Every year, over and over again, countless Oktoberfest visitors share their enthusiasm about this beer.

"Spaten Oktoberfest Beer will be primarily promoted from August through October 2006 with thematic Spaten Oktoberfest POS including limited edition glassware, coasters, posters and an assortment of decorative items. Ask for Spaten Oktoberfest Beer at your favorite Pub or Restaurant, Or get Spaten Oktoberfest Beer at your beverage trade.

Spaten Oktoberfest Beer. Taste the Munich flavor.

Spaten Oktoberfest Beer is amber in color. This medium bodied beer has achieved its impeccable taste by balancing the roasted malt flavor with the perfect amount of hops. Having a rich textured palate with an underlying sweetness true to tradition.

Our Bastard beer of the Month October: Pabst's Blue Ribbon
Quite possibly the worst tasting beer in existence. However, due to it only costing 50 cents a beer, it has become the quintesential punk rock and rockabily beer of choice. Much like how Chuck Taylors became popular because of their price, Pabst's is an icon for people who dont care. Fortunaltely Pabst's Blue Ribbon has chosen to use their notariaty to help produce public radio stations, where as Chuck Taylor "literally " sold out to Reebok.

Training Week 2

Once again the boys gathered for Beer, and once again we had a BBQ. At this point Oktoberfest is less than a month away. And things are looking good. We still havent found more members to fill out the team. But currently between the 3 of us, we might not need them, haha. **Roster including pics and bios will be posted SOON**

Our Beer of the Month for September: Beck's

Training Week 1

Our first Beer drinking gathering was a success. The guys got together for a BBQ and throw back some suds. With Oktoberfest (2006 that is) closing in one us, we need to step it up a bit. But for a first showing, it was a good one.
